Choosing to Stay: A Highland Lakes Bathroom Transformation

The Why Behind the Work
At the start of the project, the homeowners were on the fence about whether it made more sense to move or improve the home they already loved. While the house worked well overall, the primary bathroom felt dated and didn’t reflect how they wanted the space to feel. They weren’t looking for a full overhaul of their home, just a thoughtful update that would make it feel refreshed and more aligned with their lifestyle. The goal was to create a more open, updated bathroom that felt like a natural extension of a home they already enjoyed, without taking on the stress of moving.

How We Brought It to Life
The approach began with helping the homeowners feel confident in their decision to stay. With significant equity in their home and a strong interest rate, moving would have meant spending more for less. Instead, we focused on using that equity wisely to improve the spaces that mattered most.
Rather than taking on a larger, more disruptive renovation, we chose to start with the primary bathroom. This allowed for a meaningful transformation without the expense or disruption of a full kitchen renovation, while still creating a noticeable impact on their daily life. The design focused on opening up the shower with glass panels, updating the tub, and refining the layout by adjusting door placements and closing in the suite before the closets. These changes improved both the flow and the overall feel of the space, making it more open, functional, and aligned with the rest of the home.
Intentional Design Choices

Client Reflections
“This renovation has been perfect for what we were looking for. It made such a difference in how our home feels, and we’re so glad we chose to improve rather than move.”

The Finished Space
The updated bathroom feels open, refreshed, and thoughtfully aligned with the rest of the home. What once felt closed off and dated now offers a lighter, more functional layout that supports everyday use with ease. The glass shower panels, updated tub, and refined layout changes work together to create a space that feels both modern and comfortable. Paired with layered finishes, tile selections, and updated fixtures, the bathroom now reflects a home that was worth investing in rather than leaving behind.
